Mark C. Graf
Mark Graf earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and a Master of Music in Vocal Coaching and Accompanying from the University of Illinois, where he studied with John Wustman.
He has conducted opera productions for Florida Grand Opera, Toledo Opera, Edmonton Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Nashville Opera, Ash Lawn Opera, Opera Birmingham, Opera Delaware, Washington Summer Opera, August Opera, Shreveport Opera, and the New York City Opera National Company.
Previous appointments have included Florida Grand Opera’s Resident Associate Conductor and Director of its Young Artist Studio, Metropolitan Opera Auditions adjudicator, and Music Coordinator and Rehearsal Pianist for Pittsburgh Opera. Mr. Graf is Music Director of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria, and he has led several Andria Theatre productions, including Into the Woods, White Christmas, Willie Wonka, Wizard of Oz, and, most recently, Hello Dolly!
Mark makes his home in Alexandria with his wife Karen. There, he has conducted several musicals for the Andria Theatre, is the music director at Bethesda Lutheran, and designs user interfaces for automated packaging machinery at Aagard.
In his free time, he dabbles in woodworking and frequents his older son Adam's brewery - Copper Trail Brewing Company. When together, he enjoys making music with his younger son Eric, who has appeared several times with the LPCO as cello soloist.
